The Indigenous and Remote Eye Service recognised a gap in our service delivery model and the need for a culturally safe and easy to understand brochure that would provide instructions on how patients care for their eye after cataract surgery.

After reviewing best practice principles, information currently provided and talking with key stakeholders including Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and staff at ACHO’ s we developed the ‘Instructions for After Cataract Surgery’ brochure.

The brochure is presented in an easy to understand manner and addresses the unmet need for simple, easy to follow steps along with appropriate pictorial images to support patients with their post operative eye care at home.

Moogie Downs Production Company, an Aboriginal owned graphic design company based in Darwin, produced the brochure in collaboration with our team.

We are very proud to be launching the ‘Instructions for After Cataract Surgery’ brochure that forms part of a suite of resources to support the essential cataract surgery service being provided by the IRIS team.
