Urgent Care Clinics around Australia

Vanguard Health is proud to announce that we have been appointed by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care (DoHA) as a member of the panel to provide surge workforce services to support Medicare Urgent Care Clinics (UCCs) across Australia.

Medicare UCCs are being established nationwide to improve local access to urgent care and to reduce the number of low-acuity cases attending public hospital emergency departments (EDs). This initiative aims to enable EDs to focus on more serious and life-threatening cases.

The Medicare UCCs represent a new model of care that will integrate with existing service offerings to alleviate pressure on hospitals. The UCCs will:

  • Be based in existing GP clinics, community health centres, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services
  • Provide free services for patients
  • Be open after normal business hours and accept walk-in patients
  • Be diverse and responsive to the needs of the local community
  • Be accessible to all people, including vulnerable populations and young people

Vanguard Health’s Commitment to Quality Care

With nearly 15 years in the Healthcare space, Vanguard Health's involvement underscores its commitment to supporting Medicare UCCs as part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare access and efficiency across Australia. We have a large database of workforce professionals such as Registered and Enrolled Nurses, General Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Allied Health, Indigenous Support Workers, and Extended Care paramedics, who at short notice, can provide assistance to those that need it most. Vanguard Health looks forward to contributing to a more resilient and responsive healthcare system.

Comprehensive Care for Non-Life Threatening Conditions

Patients can visit a Medicare UCC for non-life-threatening acute episodic care, such as treatment for minor injuries and illnesses including closed fractures, simple eye injuries, minor burns, UTIs, and ear infections.

As needed, Vanguard Health will deploy its workforce to address any shortages and ensure that UCCs across Australia can operate effectively and provide uninterrupted care to their communities.

Looking Ahead

Vanguard Health remains committed to supporting the healthcare system and ensuring that all Australians have access to the care they need. We look forward to working with the Medicare UCCs and the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to enhance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.

Stay tuned for more updates on our involvement with the Medicare UCC initiative and other efforts to support the health and wellbeing of communities across Australia.
